Superfloc N-300 Equivalent — Nonionic Polyacrylamide
✦ Equivalent Grade for Kemira Superfloc N-300

Superfloc N-300 Equivalent — Nonionic Polyacrylamide

Kemira publishes Superfloc N-300 as a nonionic polyacrylamide used in mineral processing, particularly where low pH or the presence of activated carbon rules out anionic grades. The N-prefix designates nonionic — no ionic charge, bridging-only flocculation, effective from pH 4 to pH 12. Kemira does not publish grade-level molecular weight figures for the Superfloc line, so rather than assert a grade-for-grade match we cannot evidence, here is what we supply: medium-to-high molecular weight nonionic PAM suited to gold CIL/CIP circuits, acid mine drainage, and coal washing applications where ionic interference is a concern. Tell us the duty and your current dose and we will nominate a specific grade and ship it for a settling or jar test on your actual pulp.

Dosage Guide

Settling test required to determine optimal dose for your specific pulp or water. Nonionic typically doses at 5–20 g/t for mineral tailings; confirm by cylinder settling test.

Frequently Asked Questions — Superfloc N-300 Equivalent — Nonionic Polyacrylamide

Why use nonionic instead of anionic in a gold circuit?

Gold CIL/CIP circuits run at pH 10–11 with activated carbon. Anionic PAM can adsorb onto the carbon surface and reduce gold loading. Nonionic PAM has minimal carbon affinity, protecting leach efficiency. This is the main reason N-300 and its equivalents are the standard choice in gold processing.

What makes nonionic work at low pH where anionic fails?

Anionic PAM works partly through electrostatic interaction — at low pH the carboxyl groups lose their charge, destroying that mechanism. Nonionic PAM floccultes purely by bridging: amide groups along the chain hydrogen-bond to mineral surfaces regardless of pH. That is why it retains activity down to pH 4.

Do you supply a copy of Superfloc N-300?

No. We supply independently manufactured nonionic polyacrylamide selected against the published N-300 profile. Grade descriptors differ between manufacturers and Kemira does not publish grade-level figures, so confirm suitability with a settling test on your actual pulp.

Can nonionic PAM be used in potable water treatment?

Only if the specific product carries the required approvals for your jurisdiction. We do not publish regulatory claims without the supporting documentation for that batch and market. Tell us the application and we will confirm what is available.

What other nonionic grades do you offer?

We supply nonionic PAM across the molecular weight range from around 5 million to 12 million daltons. Tell us your current N-300 dosage and duty and we will nominate the closest grade from our range.
