PAM for Oil & Gas
Partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (PHPA) is the backbone of modern EOR polymer flooding, drilling fluid systems, and produced water treatment.
PHPA for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)
Polymer flooding with PHPA is the most commercially proven EOR method. By increasing water viscosity to match reservoir oil viscosity, PHPA improves sweep efficiency and reduces water channeling. Our oilfield-grade PHPA achieves molecular weights of 20-35 million Daltons for maximum viscosity at low concentration.
Drilling Fluid Additive
PHPA is a critical component in water-based drilling muds. It encapsulates shale particles to prevent hydration and dispersion, stabilizes the borehole wall, and reduces fluid loss. Typical concentration: 0.5-2% by weight in the mud system.
Fracturing Fluid
In hydraulic fracturing, high-molecular-weight PAM serves as a friction reducer and viscosifier. It reduces pumping pressure by up to 70% and carries proppant deep into fractures. Our slickwater-grade PAM dissolves rapidly and degrades cleanly after treatment.
Produced Water Treatment
Anionic PAM flocculates suspended solids and oil droplets in produced water, enabling reinjection or surface discharge. Works synergistically with demulsifiers and coagulants in three-phase separation systems.
