Supply Route Comparison
Published reference data and the ChinaPAM route for SNF FLOSTRENGTH RSB VBR and RSP 9100
Competitor figures are from SNF, FLOSTRENGTH RSB (PDF page 48) and RSP 9100 (PDF page 49) tables in the FLOPAM Catalogue 2007. SNF states these data are given for information only and do not constitute a specification. They are historical indicative figures under SNF test conditions, not ChinaPAM specifications and not evidence of current SNF availability.

Three Exact FLOSTRENGTH Grades and What Separates Them
The three grades share one stated application, dry strength in paper, and one SNF molecular-weight label, Very Low. They differ in form, charge label and the concentration at which viscosity is published. Those differences decide how a replacement is prepared and tested.
| Exact SNF grade | Form | SNF charge | SNF MW | Published viscosity | Dissolution |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RSB 105 VBR | Bead | Low | Very Low | 90 cps at 100 g/L | 30 min |
| RSB 305 VBR | Bead | Medium | Very Low | 930 cps at 10 g/L | 30 min |
| RSP 9100 | Powder | Low | Very Low | 1400 / 655 / 200 cps at 30 / 20 / 10 g/L | 60 min |
The ChinaPAM Route: Powder Screening, Not a Claimed Match
ChinaPAM’s current grade master has no bead-form product and no published dry-strength result. What it can offer is an anionic powder screening lane chosen by charge direction, a preparation check on your line, and a strength test on your own furnish. The route is locked only when that test meets your target.
ChinaPAM’s molecular-weight scale also has no Very Low band, so the screening grade is a directional start. Its viscosity and dissolution are read from its own TDS and measured at your working concentration, never taken from the SNF figures above.
Two Ways a FLOSTRENGTH Changeover Goes Wrong
Carrying the preparation assumption across forms. RSB grades are beads with 30 min listed dissolution; RSP 9100 and the ChinaPAM route are powders. Running powder through a bead set-up, or the reverse, can cause wetting, feeder and maturation problems before chemistry is even compared.
Reading the application label as proof of performance. SNF’s “dry strength in paper applications” describes its own product. It says nothing about a ChinaPAM grade. Strength has to be measured on your furnish before a route is locked.
Trial Plan: Preparation First, Then Strength
Step one checks preparation: the ChinaPAM powder is made up at your working concentration and its dissolution and viscosity are recorded on your equipment. Step two tests strength on your furnish against the current FLOSTRENGTH baseline at stepped doses, with your own strength and runnability targets as the pass mark.
What to Send for a Quotation
The exact grade, quantity and destination are enough to start. These details sharpen the plan:
| Input | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Full grade (RSB 105 VBR, RSB 305 VBR or RSP 9100) or a bag-label photo | Separates form and charge label |
| Current preparation equipment and make-up concentration | Decides the preparation check for a powder route |
| Furnish type, current dose and strength target | Baseline and pass mark for the trial |
| Expected volume and destination | Pricing, packaging and lead time in the quotation |
Documents and Delivery
The applicable TDS is confirmed together with the selected ChinaPAM powder grade, and a batch COA is tied to the confirmed shipment. Packaging and lead time are confirmed in the quotation for your volume and destination.
Dosage Guide
Use the current FLOSTRENGTH active dose as the reference. Prepare the ChinaPAM powder at your working concentration, allow full hydration, and compare stepped doses on the same furnish against your strength target.
Frequently Asked Questions — FLOSTRENGTH RSB 105 VBR, RSB 305 VBR and RSP 9100 — Anionic PAM Powder Screening Route
Does ChinaPAM supply a proven FLOSTRENGTH replacement?
ChinaPAM supplies anionic polyacrylamide powder and runs a screening route for these grades. We do not claim dry-strength equivalence before a trial on your furnish shows the result.
Can ChinaPAM supply RSB-type beads?
No. ChinaPAM offers powder. For an RSB 105 VBR or RSB 305 VBR line we check the feeder, wetting and maturation set-up before any powder is trialled.
Is RSP 9100 closer to a powder route than the RSB grades?
In physical form, yes: SNF lists RSP 9100 as a powder with 60 min dissolution, against 30 min for the RSB beads. Chemistry and strength result still have to be tested on your furnish.
RSB 105 VBR and RSB 305 VBR share the VBR suffix. Are they interchangeable?
No. SNF lists RSB 105 VBR at Low charge and RSB 305 VBR at Medium charge, and gives their viscosities at different concentrations (90 cps at 100 g/L versus 930 cps at 10 g/L). Keep the full grade on every document.
Which documents come with the supply?
The TDS for the selected ChinaPAM powder grade is confirmed with the grade, and a batch COA is tied to the confirmed shipment. Packaging and lead time are set in the quotation.
