FLOPAM FO 4440 Equivalent — Medium Charge Cationic Polyacrylamide
✦ Equivalent Grade for SNF FLOPAM FO 4440

FLOPAM FO 4440 Equivalent — Medium Charge Cationic Polyacrylamide

SNF publishes FLOPAM FO 4440 and FO 4490 as medium charge density cationic polyacrylamide powders at standard molecular weight. FO 4440 is published in standard, SH and SSH versions, and the SSH version is not a medium charge grade — SNF lists it at high charge. The number is not enough to identify the polymer, so tell us the full grade string on your bags. If you are sourcing FLOPAM FO 4350 specifically, that grade has its own page.

Dosage Guide

Cationic polymer demand for sludge dewatering is set by the sludge, not by the polymer datasheet. Establish it by CST or jar test and use your current FO 4440 active dose rate as the starting reference. Make up at 0.2 to 0.5 percent and allow full ageing before dosing.

Frequently Asked Questions — FLOPAM FO 4440 Equivalent — Medium Charge Cationic Polyacrylamide

FO 4440 and FO 4490 — do both point to the same grade of yours?

Yes, for most dewatering duties. In the FLOPAM FO naming convention the digits track cationic charge, and FO 4440 and FO 4490 sit close enough in the medium-to-high charge band that one grade on our side covers most applications. FO 4350 is a distinct grade with independently published data; see the FO 4350 page for that enquiry.

I run FO 4440 SSH. Does this page apply to me?

Not directly. SNF publishes FO 4440 SSH at high charge density while FO 4440 and FO 4440 SH are medium charge, so the suffix moves you into a different band and a different grade on our side. This is the one place in the FO range where charge is genuinely not constant across suffixes, so send us the full grade string rather than the number.

How do I compare your grade against my current polymer fairly?

Run a capillary suction time test or a jar test on the same sludge sample on the same day, at matched active polymer dose rather than matched product dose, and record cake solids and filtrate clarity together. Comparing on product weight alone is misleading if the two products differ in active content.

Why does the charge descriptor differ between your scale and SNF’s?

Because the two scales have different numbers of steps and different band boundaries, so the same polymer can sit in differently named bands on each. We show each side labelled with whose scale it is rather than converting, since a converted figure would look more precise than the underlying data supports.

Is your grade a licensed copy of FO 4440?

No. It is an independently manufactured cationic polyacrylamide positioned against the published FO 4440 profile. Confirm performance by CST or jar test on your own sludge before changing supply.
