PG0, PG1 or PG2: Seven Exact Grades in Three Tiers

Find your tier first, then the charge position inside it. The ChinaPAM lane is a directional screening start chosen by charge and by the high end of the ChinaPAM molecular-weight scale. It is not a claim of cross-brand equivalence and not a claim of paper performance; SNF’s Ultra High, Very High and High tiers do not convert to ChinaPAM grades numerically.

Three FLORET PG Facts Buyers Can Trace

First, the tiers are separate tables. SNF 2007 lists PG0 as Ultra High, PG1 as Very High and PG2 as High molecular weight, each headed as anionic powder for retention in paper applications.

Second, the tiers are not the same size. PG0 holds one Medium-charge grade, AN 923 PG0; PG1 and PG2 each hold a Very Low, a Medium and a High charge grade on SNF’s scale.

Third, preparation differs by tier. Under the catalogue condition of 5 g/L in deionised water at 25°C, PG0 lists 150 minutes dissolution, PG1 90 minutes and PG2 60 minutes, with indicative viscosities that differ grade by grade.

Two Failure Modes Worth Checking Before a Mill Trial

One is a preparation mistake; the other is a performance assumption.

PG0, PG1 and PG2 treated as interchangeableThe tier is dropped and one preparation routine is used for allUnder-matured solution or a viscosity that does not match the dosing set-upConfirm the exact tier and plan maturation from 150, 90 or 60 minutes as listed, then measure the ChinaPAM grade at your working concentration
Choice made on the retention wording aloneA grade is selected because the table heading says paper retentionPoor retention, drainage or sheet formation on the machineRun a same-furnish bench evaluation against the incumbent before any machine trial

Same-Furnish Bench Evaluation Plan

Take one furnish sample from the point where the retention aid is added, with the same consistency, fines content and other wet-end additives present. Prepare the incumbent PG grade and the shortlisted ChinaPAM grades at the same solution concentration, each matured for at least the time its own tier requires.

Add each at the same dose steps and shear. Compare first-pass retention, drainage time and a handsheet formation check against the incumbent. Only a grade that holds up on all three moves to a controlled machine trial; no ChinaPAM grade is presented as a qualified retention aid before that.

What to Send for a Quotation

The exact PG grade and quantity are enough to start pricing. These details make the bench plan useful:

InputWhy it matters
Full grade with PG0, PG1 or PG2, or a bag-label photoFixes the tier and the charge position
Paper or board grade and furnish typeSets the bench furnish and the pass mark
Addition point, dose and other wet-end additivesKeeps the bench conditions close to the machine
Make-up equipment and maturation time availableChecks whether the tier’s preparation time can be met
Expected volume and destinationPricing, packaging and lead time in the quotation

Documents and Delivery

The applicable TDS is confirmed together with the selected ChinaPAM grade, and a batch COA is tied to the confirmed shipment. Packaging and lead time are confirmed in the quotation for your volume and destination.

Dosage Guide

Use the incumbent PG dose at the same addition point as the reference. Prepare the shortlisted ChinaPAM powder at the same solution concentration, mature it fully, and compare stepped doses on the same furnish before any machine trial.

Frequently Asked Questions — FLORET AN 900 PG Series — Anionic PAM Powder Screening for PG0, PG1 and PG2 Paper-Retention Grades

Can ChinaPAM quote for a FLORET PG requirement?

Yes. ChinaPAM quotes anionic polyacrylamide powder for FLORET PG0, PG1 and PG2 enquiries. Send the exact grade with its PG tier, your furnish type and quantity, and we will name a screening lane, quote current pricing and plan a same-furnish bench evaluation.

Are AN 923 PG0 and AN 923 PG1 the same polymer?

No. SNF places them in different tables: PG0 is Ultra High molecular weight with 150 minutes dissolution and 1700 cps at 5 g/L; PG1 is Very High with 90 minutes and 1600 cps. Keep the tier on the order.

Why does AN 934 show a different charge in PG1 and PG2?

That is how SNF prints it: AN 934 PG1 is labelled High charge and AN 934 PG2 Medium charge. The grade number alone does not fix the charge position, so the full PG grade decides the screening lane.

Will a ChinaPAM grade give the same retention and drainage?

We do not claim that in advance. The ChinaPAM grade master has no paper-retention performance data, and SNF’s own figures are indicative. Retention, drainage and formation are decided by a bench evaluation on your furnish.

Which documents come with the supply?

The TDS for the selected ChinaPAM grade is confirmed with the grade, and a batch COA is tied to the confirmed shipment. Packaging and lead time are set in the quotation.
